Have concerns about traveling during this pandemic? You are not the only one...
Some of the things I am going to list and explain may sound rudimentary, but you would be surprised how many people don’t follow basic hygiene rules. I cannot tell you how many times I have been in the restroom at an airport and I am washing my hands, only to look up and witness someone go from the stall and do a b-line straight out the door! This brings me to my first point…
1. Wash your hands!
As much as you can, wash your hands and even your face and eyes. Don't just count on hand sanitizer or wipes all day. Take the time to wash away the germs as much as you can!
2. Hand Sanitizer and Wipes.
When traveling, you may not be able to get to a bathroom...so make sure you have some travel-sized wipes and hand sanitizer on you in case you need to clean up in a pinch.
3. Masks.
Make sure you pack extra masks. A lot of people tend to use the same masks day in and day out and often don't change masks until they ultimately lose them. The suggestion is to swap out masks every day, at worse 2 to 3 days tops, unless you dropped it or have been sweating profusely that particular day. If you notice your face breaking out, especially around your mouth, that is certainly a tell-tell sign you need a new mask.
4. Tissues.
A lot of folks do not believe in investing in facial tissues and are satisfied with just using run-of-the-mill toilet paper for everything lol. Facial tissue in my opinion is softer and has a hypoallergenic element to it that makes it safe for multiple uses. No matter what brand of facial tissue you choose to use, it can prove to be useful in a pinch for anything.
5. Lysol.
Now, this is more of a bonus. Whether you are taking a road trip and can pack a tall can of Lysol, or if you are catching a flight and can take a travel-sized mask-wearing mini can of Lysol, it will come in handy for both air and surface use.
Additional Note: Whether you are vaccinated or not, please take these necessary steps to avoid spreading or receiving unnecessary germs and sickness. Ironically enough, before Covid-19, I took all of these steps when traveling...even mask-wearing while on a plane and throughout the airport (at least when I was around a lot of people that would be coughing and sneezing in my personal space). So whether it's the Flu, the Delta variant, Omicron, or whatever new variant that threatens us, be vigilant and take the above steps. Have the mindset of treating yourself as if you are trying to avoid the common cold and you will be fine while traveling...or even in your day-to-day life.:)
