London: 10 Things You MUST DO!

My trip to London was my first journey into International territory. Although I only spent 3 days in the United Kingdom, I managed to cram a lot into my short stay! Here are a few MUST DO's of this great city in no particular order...Enjoy!

1. The Shard

The tallest landmark in London. The Shard is a great way to get a panoramic view of the city. The 68th, 69th, and 70th floors are open to the public (at a modest cost of course lol). It has a bar/lounge area in case you want to relax and take in the sights, along with useful information on what you are looking at if you are not too familiar. Overall a great experience to have.

2. Buckingham Palace

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past century almost, you either know a little or a lot about The Royal Family. Now you will likely not catch The Queen passing by, but if you plan you can catch the changing of the guards depending on the day and time of year. Last checked, during the summer they change daily, in all other months, the changing of the guard occurs every other day. Crowds gather for this event as if it was a bicentennial to watch the golden gates open and these orchestrated men march in unison. All Hail The Queen!

3. The London Eye

I tend to have an affinity for Ferris Wheels in any city I go to so maybe I'm biased. The London Eye does have great views and is another great way to catch a panoramic look at the city, just not from as high of a viewpoint as The Shard.

4. Fish and Chips

A staple of the city...Nuff said!

5. The Underground

The best way to get around the city is by taking the subway...aka The Underground. Real simple to use especially if you are from a big city like me and are accustomed to this mode of transportation. It could be intimidating initially but don't be afraid to ask for directions as to where you are trying to go. Also, taking a double-decker bus is a must in my book, even just to say you have been on it!

6. Tower Bridge

A classic UK landmark and a great photo op!

7. Big Ben

Another great place for a photo op of a classic UK landmark.

8. Madame Tussauds Wax Museum

Certainly, a fun place to spend time at. Not only will you see some remarkable wax figures, but you may get a brief cinematic movie, along with a small train ride to view some unique wax figures.

9. Natural History Museum

Great place to spend a few hours out of the sun or rain. One of the better museums I have ever visited.

10. Red Telephone Booth

This iconic London staple is one of the more recognizable icons known throughout the world. If you come across one, make sure you take a picture!
