Paris for Beginners: 5 Things you must do.

Hands down Paris is one of my favorite destinations. I have been to Paris twice now over the past few years and I can honestly say it's in my top 3 favorite places in the world. There are plenty of things to do and see when visiting Paris, but I will give you my 5 things you MUST do during your trip to the City of Lights.

\

1. The Eiffel Tower

One of the most iconic structures and certainly the main attraction in France, the Eiffel Tower offers more than just a great photo op. The tower has 3 observation levels where you can perch yourself and take in the view of the city. You can even have lunch or dinner at the tower if you choose. It is recommended that you book tickets in advance to ensure entry or to dine there.

2. The Louvre

The Louvre, or the Louvre Museum, is the world's largest art museum and a historic monument in Paris, France. A central landmark of the city, it is located on the Right Bank of the Seine in the city's 1st arrondissement. The Louvre has many exhibits and attractions to lure you in. None bigger than the famous Mona Lisa. Spoiler Alert! The Mona Lisa is smaller than you may think. The actual dimensions are 30" x 21". Be prepared to spend a great part of the day at the Louvre if you intend on taking your sweet time and enjoying all the exhibits.

3. The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, commonly known as Sacré-Cœur Basilica and often simply Sacré-Cœur, is a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica in Paris, France, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Sacré-Cœur Basilica is located at the summit of the butte Montmartre, the highest point in the city. The artwork throughout the walls and ceilings tells a story that I literally can not put into words. I was taken aback in awe and had a cathartic moment. A visit here is a must if you are a believer.

4. Galeries Lafayette

The Galeries Lafayette is one of the most popular, chic, and distinguished shopping centers in Paris. Beauty and fashion enthusiasts, you are in the right place. You will find all the high-end designer brands here in one spot! Brands such as Balenciaga, Bourjois, Burberry, Bulgari, Calvin Klein, Céline, Chanel, Christian Dior, Chloé, Givenchy, Hermès, Isabel Marant, Karl Lagerfeld, Kenzo, Louis Vuitton, and Prada just to name a few. Don't forget your wallet!

5. The River Seine

No trip to Paris is complete without taking a ride down The River Seine. The Seine is France's third-longest river, extending 485 miles from Dijon to the English Channel. There are 32 bridges on the river in Paris, some more impressive than others, and there are plenty of sights to be seen while taking a joy ride down this great river. You can even have a romantic dinner while cruising down this river with your significant other if the weather is right.
